It’s World Bee Day!!
Shout out to the important pollinators of trees, flowers & our food.
There is nothing better on a warm Spring day than the buzz of bees in the garden.
A FEW FACTS ON BEES
🐝 Honeybees live in matriarchal societies.
🐝 Honeybees and bumblebees are the only bees that make colonies
🐝 Male bees can’t sting you, though they are mostly around the hive if they are a bee that lives in colonies
🐝 Worker bees are basically nonbinary or intersex because they don’t actually have any genitals that mark them as male or female- their stingers are modified ovipositors. The queen is the only reproductive female.
As you can see, it is very important for us to protect these VIP pollinators.
HERE ARE A FEW REASONS WHY WE LOVE BEES!!
🐝 They are cute and come in many pretty colours.
🐝 They make buzzing sounds
🐝 They give us honey, royal jelly, beeswax and more.
🐝 They help maintain biodiversity.
🐝 They increase food production and food security.
🐝 They are simply the bees knees!! Geddit?
So, in answer to the question: “To 🐝 Or Not To 🐝”, the answer is and always should be To 🐝
Save the bees, folks. They are our friends.
In honour of World Bee Day, here are a few of my favourite bee finds.
